Events Naked Science - 'Is Physics Creative?' Date: Mon 20 October 2003 Time: 8pm-9.30pm Place: Borders Bookstore Café, 12-13 Market Street, Cambridge CB2 3PA - map Subject: Is Physics Creative? Speaker: Professor Mike Payne, Head of the Theory of Condensed Matter group at the Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge. In this talk Professor Payne discusses what exactly theoretical physicists aim to do. He explains that although bound by the constraints of experiment and the rigidity of mathematics, theoretical physics still provides room for creative thought about how our universe works and the way things fit together. Naked Science (formerly Café Scientifique) is a monthly series of FREE public science talks and open to all. No previous scientific knowledge is assumed.
